Natural Born Bobtail Gene in Bobtail Rottweilers:

The Natural Born Bob Tail gene (NBBT) in Bobtail Rottweilers, has been present in Australia since the early 1960’s. As the docking of Rottweilers was perfectly legal up until recent times, it was considered unnecessary to pursue this avenue of breeding.

Since docking has been banned, a number of these rare Natural Born Bobtail Rottweilers have been imported back into Australia and the line is now fully re-established, thanks to a number of ethical breeders such as ourselves; which had frowned upon the cruel docking of pups. We like a number of breeders invested a great deal of time and energy into re-establishing the Natural Bobtail gene, as we felt it was a barbaric practice to chop a puppies tail off. This has been a similar predicament for many other breeds of pure bred dogs that also carry the Natural Born Bobtail.

There are a large number of different breeds, which carry the Natural Born Bobtail gene, just some breeds that have Naturally occurring Bobtails include (Courtesy of Wikipedia and other sources)

Facts regarding NBBT in Bobtail Rottweilers:

No doubt some ill-informed individuals, will claim that they are not Natural Born Bobtails or that they suffer from health issues due to the lack of a tail. There is absolutely no evidence at all, to suggest that is the case. In fact, health wise they exhibit no more problems than tailed dogs. It would be the same as saying that hair colour determines health in people, as the C189G Gene is only a trait it does not cause any health issues.

I guess no matter how much evidence is out there to support the fact that NBBT dogs are genuine and have no more issues than normal tailed dogs there will always be some narrow minded individual that says the opposite. Unfortunately for them, DNA Science does not lie and this trait can be tested for in most breeds of dogs, which we have done previously.

Other Health Tests:

We are currently investigating which other non compulsory health testing we can complete so as to further improve our lines.

Our adult dogs are all HD X-Rayed, and any potential issues would be detected in the parents prior to mating. All our Natural Born Bobtail Rottweiler Puppies are provided with a comprehensive Vet Health Certificate. This Vet Health Certificate shows that they are healthy and have been de-sexed.

As puppies are a complex bio organism, just like us; sometimes things can go wrong; for that fact we provide 6 weeks FREE Pet Insurance (which comes into affect after 3 days for Injury and 7 days Illness), so as to give them the best start possible, we highly recommend that as a responsible pet owner, that you continue the Pet Insurance after the FREE 6 weeks expires.
